December on the Grand Strand is holiday party season, and the good rooms and the good vendors go in October. Here is how to plan one that people actually enjoy.
Book by October
The resorts, the country clubs and the restaurants with private rooms fill their December Fridays and Saturdays by mid-October. So do we. If you want a specific Saturday, call in September. A Thursday or an early-December date is easier and often cheaper.
Rooms that work
We have run holiday parties at the Hilton, the DoubleTree, Prestwick, Pine Lakes, Rioz and a dozen private rooms. The ones that work best have a dinner area and a separate dance floor, so people who want to talk can, and the floor can get loud without ending the conversation at table six. Ask the venue where the DJ and the photobooth go before you sign; a booth needs about ten by ten feet and an outlet.
The combination that works
- A DJ who can MC. Welcome, awards, the raffle, the CEO’s two minutes. One person with the microphone and a timeline keeps it moving.
- A photobooth, open the whole night. It is the thing people remember and the reason the quiet department shows up in the photos. Put the company name on the print.
- Uplighting in your brand colors, so the ballroom does not look like Tuesday’s sales meeting.
- Dinner music that is actually music, then a dance set that starts after dessert, not after the awards run long.
What to send us
The date, the room, the headcount, the run of show (who speaks, when, for how long) and whether there is a theme. We send a quote within one business day. Everything comes from one crew on one invoice: DJ, sound, lighting, photobooth and any rentals the room is missing.
Check your date before someone else takes it.
Questions planners ask
Can you do a party for 40 people?
Yes. A small party is a column speaker, a microphone, a booth and the right playlist. We size it to the room.
Do you handle the awards slideshow?
Yes. Projector, screen and the laptop changeover are part of the production, and we rehearse the cues with whoever is presenting.
Can the photobooth be branded?
The print design, the welcome screen and the backdrop color can all carry your brand.
