How much does a wedding DJ cost in Myrtle Beach?

What actually moves the price, what is included at Pierpoint, how deposits work, and the questions to ask any DJ before you compare numbers.

Every couple asks it, and most DJ websites refuse to answer it. Here is how wedding DJ pricing actually works on the Grand Strand, what changes the number, and how to compare two quotes that look nothing alike.

What you are actually paying for

A wedding DJ’s fee is mostly time that happens before the wedding. For a reception with a ceremony and cocktail hour, a professional DJ will spend more hours on your event than you see on the day: the planning meeting, building the timeline with your planner and venue, learning your must-plays and do-not-plays, writing the announcements, and prepping music for a ceremony, a cocktail hour and a dance floor that each need a different sound.

Then there is the gear and the people. A real wedding setup is two sound systems (ceremony and reception), wireless microphones for the officiant and the toasts, dance-floor lighting, and a backup for anything that can fail. A company like ours also brings a second person when the room needs it, so the DJ never leaves the booth to fix a cable.

What moves the price up or down

  • Hours. A four-hour reception costs less than a ceremony, cocktail hour and reception that run seven.
  • Locations. A ceremony on the beach and a reception in a ballroom is two sound systems and two setups, not one.
  • Lighting and extras. Uplighting, a monogram on the wall, dancing on a cloud, cold sparks and a photobooth each add to the night and to the invoice. They are also where most of the “wow” comes from.
  • Date. Saturdays from April to June and September to November are the busiest dates on the coast. Fridays, Sundays and winter dates are easier to book and often cost less.
  • Who you book. A DJ with a decade of weddings, a crew and backup gear costs more than someone with a laptop and a speaker. The difference shows up at 9 PM when the room needs reading, not when you sign.

How Pierpoint prices a wedding

We quote every wedding individually, because every wedding is a different number of hours, rooms and extras. The structure is always the same: one price for the whole night, a 50% deposit to lock the date, the balance due two months before the wedding along with your planning details. Card, Cash App, Venmo, Zelle and Bitcoin are all fine. Every booking includes a wireless microphone, and your DJ is the MC.

The fastest way to get a real number is to check your date. Tell us the venue, the hours and roughly how many guests, and we reply within one business day with a quote, not a brochure.

Questions to ask any DJ before you compare quotes

  1. Is the ceremony sound a separate system, and is it included?
  2. Who is the MC, and will I meet the person who is actually playing my wedding?
  3. What happens if the DJ is sick that day?
  4. Is there backup equipment on site?
  5. How do I give you my music? (Ours lives in Cue, shared with your planner.)
  6. What is the overtime rate if the party runs long?

If a quote is far below the others, one of those answers is usually the reason.

Questions couples ask

Do you charge for travel in Myrtle Beach?

Not along the Grand Strand. We are based in Murrells Inlet and work from North Myrtle Beach to Georgetown and inland to Conway as our home turf. Further out, we tell you the travel number up front.

Is the deposit refundable?

Payments are not refundable once made, with one exception: if another client books the date you cancelled, you are refunded in full.

Can we add a photobooth or uplighting later?

Yes, as long as we have the gear and the crew free for your date. Adding extras early is safer, especially for Saturdays in peak season.
